Kailash Chavan, Centre Head and Venkat Togre, resource person of the Palghar Zilla Parishad education department demanded Rs 8,000 from the complainant who had approached the officers to move the transfer file of his wife, a primary teacher, to Mokhada taluka.
The complainant approached the Palghar ACB who laid a trap at the education department office where they were caught taking the cash. Raids at the office and homes of the officers are under progress. The accused men will be produced before the court on Tuesday.
With the formation of the Palghar district in August last year, a number of teachers are seeking transfer from one taluka to another.
