Ali, employed as a cook in a hotel, confessed of committing the offence when the victim did not respond to his repeated approach. The 19-year-old victim is rushed to the Cooper hospital and later shifted to the Sion hospital. "It is a case of one-sided affair. The victim condition is stable. She has suffered deep cuts on both her wrists," said a Juhu police officer. The accused has been booked under the Indian Penal Code section 307 (attempt to murder).
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone IX) Vinayak Deshmukh confirmed TOI the incident that occurred on the main road. "Accused was caught few distance away by locals and the police patrolling in the locality after the girl screamed after she was attacked. We are awaiting for the victim to come to terms before recording his statement. She is in a state of shock," said Deshmukh.
At 8.20am, the victim who resides in Nehru Nagar locality in Juhu stepped out of her house in a chawl to go to a shop. A Mithibai College staff who witnessed the incident told TOI: "The man stopped the victim and after talking briefly slashed at her. Onlookers chased him on seeing the victim bleeding after she was attacked with a sharp object. The incident occurred in front of several people on the main busy road. The accused was seen waiting on the roadside for the victim to come."
Both the victim and the accused resides in the same Nehru Nagar locality. Ali is in love with the victim for the last few years but she denied his approaches. "Ali threatened the girl on Saturday night when he again approached her with the proposal. He decided to take the extreme step after he had a fight with the victim at night," said the Juhu police officer.

Aug 8, 2014 | A teen girl was stabbed to death in the Tagore Nagar area of Vikhroli east. The accused, 23-year-old man Haroon Shaikh, stabbed the victim several times with a knife. Shaikh committed the offence after the victim refused to his marriage proposal, said the Vikhroli police.
Jun 2, 2014 | A 50-year-old woman was stabbed to death at her residence in BDD chawls in central Mumbai in front of her husband allegedly by her spurned lover, who is still at large. Accused Parshuram Kamble (35) stabbed victim Alka Thorwade seven times with a knife as she had begun rejecting his advances after her husband learnt about their affair, NM Joshi Marg police said.
May 27, 2014 | A jilted lover allegedly killed a 21-year-old girl and later committed suicide in Subash Tekdi locality at Ulhasnagar town. The victim was set to get married on June 1 and her parents were out shopping when the accused 23-year-old Aakash Sonawane came to her house and stabbed her to death at her house in Amrapali Nagar, said the Vitthalwadi police.
Jan 6, 2014 | A 26-year-old travel agent from Chembur barged into the house of an MBA student in Belapur and slashed her neck. The accused, Ganesh Suryavanshi, surrendered an hour after killing the 22-year-old, an MBA student from DY Patil Nerul. The victim and the accused came into contact through social networking site and forged a friendship. However, the victim turned down accused proposal to marry him, following which they had a massive argument. He barged into victim's residence in Belapur and told her that he will kill her if she didn't marry him. When she threatened to call police, the accused slashed her neck with a chopper.
