Gangster threatening case transferred to city crime branch

MUMBAI: Mumbai police commissioner Rakesh Maria has transferred the threatening case involving former NCP MP Sanjay Patil by gangster Nilesh Paradkar from Bhandup police station to city crime branch.

The crime branch are on Wednesday likely to oppose the interim bail granted to Paradkar by the session court last week. Paradkar had threatened Patil saying that his men should not take contract of any civil work in the eastern suburbs.

Patil who won the 2009 general elections from the north east suburban-Bhandup has lodged an FIR with the Bhandup police alleging that Paradkar and his associate Jaffri called him thrice on Wednesday and threatened to not to take any civil contracts or he will bump him off. Based on his complaint Bhandup police have registered an FIR under the IPC sections of 504, 506 and 506 (11) threatening, criminal intimidation and issuing death threat.

Paradkar a well known member of Chhota Rajan gang has around dozen cases of extortion and threatening. He was released in 2011 from Thane jail and recently he has joined a political wing of union. Paradkar was convicted in 2006 for attempt to murder film producer Bharat Shah in 2004.
