Female clerk accuses IPS officer of molestation

MUMBAI: A 32-year-old female clerk working with the Home Guards department has accused a senior IPS officer of molestation. The woman, a widow, has given an application to the Colaba police complaining about the molestation on Monday. The police are probing the case since they also got some inputs that the allegation could be to level serious charges against the officer who had reportedly lambasted the woman sometime ago over work issue.

The female alleged that the additional DG rank officer groped her in his office on Monday. The widow in her application also stated that a few days ago the senior IPS officer had asked her about her marital status and later called on her phone to talk to her. The police officials said that the woman had alleged that the officer had inappropriately touched her. "We are probing the complaint and will take decision soon. We also heard that the officer had lambasted the woman over work issues and even refused to transfer some work from her. We don't know what the truth is and are probing the complaint," said a senior police official. No FIR has been registered yet.

The police are also verifying the phone call details of the woman and if she had faced any administrative action previously because of which she levelled such allegations against him.
