MUMBAI: Motorists traveling towards Mumbai and Panvel along the Sion-Panvel highway are facing inconvenience due to the toll collection at Kamothe and Kharghare toll plazas. On both the carriageways, there is a major traffic congestion for about 2 km.

Around 50 traffic cops have been deployed at the two toll plazas and around 80 cops from kalamboli, Kamothe and Kharghar police stations.

Kalamboli traffic unit in charge, Pradeep Giridhar said,"As the toll plazas are new, even the staff seem to be inexperienced due to which the toll collection process is apparently slow. It will take another 2 hours to restore the traffic movement to normalcy."
Early in the morning, in a vehement protest against the toll collection being started at the new toll plazas at Kharghar and Kamothe with effect from midnight of January 6, a convoy of MNS activists of the transport wing had vandalized some of the toll booths.
