Palghar PWD engineer caught taking bribe

MUMBAI: A Public Works Department (PWD) engineer from Jawhar in Palghar district was caught red-handed accepting bribe for a bridge work on Tuesday.

The newly formed Palghar ACB made its first arrest when Sachin Jadhav (35) was trapped in his office taking Rs 10,000 from a contractor to clear a bill for the construction of a small bridge in Jawhar. The contractor approached the ACB and a trap was set up.

Jadhav had demanded Rs 20,000 and the first instalment of Rs 10,000 was paid on Tuesday.

Jadhav has been booked under sections 7,13(1)(d),13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act and will be produced before the Palghar court on Wednesday.

The ACB,Palghar has started a free toll number '1064" for registering complaints of bribe by government employers.
