The blood soaked body of Rosemary Chettiyar was found in her Niraj Park flat in Bhayander (west) by her daughter. Gold ornaments worn by the victim were missing. The victim's husband Anthony was also at work.
The Bhayander police have launched a manhunt for the victim's nephew John Chettiyar (34) who is absconding since the murder. John, who was temporarily residing in Naigaon, used to visit his aunt and borrow money. John's mother and sister stay in Malwani, Malad (west).
On December 19, he was seen at the victim's home at around 3 pm. The victim, who was alone at home, was assaulted with a sharp weapon on the head. The victim's daughter Monica has also named John as the prime suspect.
