Officers manning the Wankhede gates found the passes on the four and questioned them. They told the police that they had paid Rs 30,000 for each pass.
One of them said he had found the phone number of a man who could provide the passes for a price on a social networking site. The man told them to deposit Rs 1.20 lakh in the firm's accounts. After they arrived in Mumbai on Thursday, an employee of the firm delivered the passes to their hotel room near the stadium.
"The passes were complimentary, but were sold for Rs 30,000 each. We have registered a case of cheating and criminal breach of trust against the firm," said inspector Nandkumar Gopale.
The police have also arrested Abdul Rahman Patani, a senior member of the Islam Gymkhana , who is also a part of a trust that runs an ambulance service
for selling complimentary passes. Rahman was produced before the 37{+t}{+h} court and later remanded in police custody till November 18.
Rahman had connived with Jadhav, who works as snooker marker at the gymkhana, and sold complimentary passes for Rs 5,000. Jadhav sold each pass for Rs 10,000 to Girish Premnath of Bombay Gymkhana, who sold them for Rs 15,000 each to Janak Gandhi of Garware Gymkhana. Gandhi sold them anywhere between Rs 25,000 to Rs 1 lakh. The police are also looking for one Zaveri, a senior member of a reputed gymkhana, who along with his son also sold passes.
Meanwhile, Ravindra Zar, brother of Rajendra Zar, the former vice-president of B(Himachal Pradesh), has filed a complaint with the Marine Drive police saying he was denied two passes that he was entitled to. Ravindra said on Friday when he went to the observer of the BCCI, he was told that his passes have been allotted to someone else.Cinema black marketeers move to Wankhede
Four men who sell cinema tickets in black have shifted base to Wankhede Stadium. The property cell of crime branch arrested Deepak Shetty, Uttam Munj, Malikarjun Rathod and Zafar Khan while they were selling the Test match tickets in black.
