2011 Mumbai blasts: IM may have planted four bombs

MUMBAI: Did the Indian Mujahideen (IM) operatives plant four bombs on July 13, 2011 and one of them did not explode? Asadullah Akhtar, an arrested IM member, allegedly told the NIA that the fourth device, an explosive-filled pressure cooker, was also planted under the foot overbridge near Dadar flower market. However, the Maharashtra ATS said they were unaware about any fourth device and that they would question Akhtar once they get his custody.

Three bombs planted at Zaveri Bazar, Operat House and atop a bus stop near Dadar railway station went off killing 27 and leaving 126 injured. The police found that the bombs contained RDX. Five persons have been arrested so far for these blasts. The alleged fourth bomb had not been recovered. There are chances that Akhtar would be taken to the place to identify where he claimed to have planted the fourth bomb. He is likely to be taken into ATS custody within the next few weeks along with his mentor, Yasin Bhatkal.

"We will verify the reports once we take him into custody. We don't want to say anything more than this at his juncture," said an ATS officer.
