MUMBAI: A 44-year-old man on Saturday reportedly jumped to his death from the building in Kandivli (E) he lived in.

The father of the deceased, Shirish Swamy, is a retired police officer. Swamy, his wife and two children stayed with his parents at the Police Grihnarman Society in Thakur Complex. It is believed that Swamy was depressed. According to the Samta Nagar police , Swamy ran a shop, which he had started with the help of his parents. But lately, he had suffered losses and the business was not taking off. Swamy's father was an inspector with the Mumbai police.

Around 11.30pm, Swamy went to the terrace and jumped off, said the police. His body was found by residents of the area who called the police. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he died of his injuries. No suicide note was found.

The Samta Nagar police have registered a case of accidental death and recorded statements of his family.
