MUMBAI: The Aam Aadmi Party is leading a protest of thousands of families from transit camps at Azad Maidan on Friday. Arvind Kejriwal will lead the protest on behalf of 14,000 families allegedly forcefully evacuated by MHADA and a construction firm without due process of law.

"Despite a number of meetings with MHADA officials, the minister for housing Sachin Ahir and the chief minister Prithviraj Chavan, and despite many promises that a new policy will be drafted, nothing has happened so far," the AAP spokesperson said.

The AAP has alleged the construction firm is the benefactor of many political parties, is close to NCP chief Sharad Pawar and CM Chavan. "He enjoys a monopoly in MHADA and carries out demolitions in the rains despite court rulings. The police and municipal authorities all follow his orders," said AAP members.
