Kejriwal demands policy on homeless

MUMBAI: In its demand to seek justice for 14,000 homeless families, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had urged MHADA and the state government to work out a policy framework for people's right to home. The other demands include, that evacuations and demolitions be stopped during the monsoons, those who have been forcefully evacuated by given temporary accommodation.

"In addition, the condition of two buildings in Mulund transit camp is so poor that they may collapse any day, we demand that these 100 odd families be immediately re-housed," said an AAP official. The Aam Aadmi Party is leading a protest of thousands of families from transit camps at Azad Maidan on Friday. Arvind Kejriwal will lead the protest on behalf of 14,000 families allegedly forcefully evacuated by MHADA and a construction firm without due process of law.
