"Easy Cabs will give you a 24x7 assurance of a cab at doorstep with zero cancellations at the eleventh hour," said a company spokesperson. This may come as a relief to commuters, many of whom are unable to get fleetcabs whose bookings are cancelled at the last minute.
"In the rarest of rare case, if there is a cancellation or unavailability of a taxi, we will offer a free ride to the passenger to any destination of his or her choice, subject to maximum fare of Rs 500," said Easy Cabs CEO Rajiv Vij. "But in all probability, we will guarantee that a taxi reaches your doorstep on time and there are no last minute frustrations," he stated.
This comes close on the heels of Meru Cabs and TabCab offering "assured cab service" for its passengers.
TabCab promises cabs for all bookings accepted for departures between 8 pm and 8 am. "We want to ensure that our clients, specially those catching early morning flights are not stranded," said Prasenjeet Bagchi of TabCab. He stated that in coming months, the fleet taxi operator will provide assured cabs for any destination 24x7.
Meru Cab also assures cabs for airport from certain parts of the city round-the-clock. It also has assured taxi services for those staying in far flung suburbs in Kalyan and Navi Mumbai. In case of unforseen circumstances, it issues a privilege voucher of Rs 500 to customers for any last minute cancellations due to unavailability of cabs.
"We guarantee 100 % service delivery assurance to win the trust of our customers. To avail this benefit, the customer must book the cab for more than 10 kms and at least an hour in advance," said Vij.
A spokesperson from TABcab said the "nil cancellation" was possible because of a large on-road fleet strength, state-of-the-art technology enhancements like a new Cab Forecasting System (CFS) and digitally mapped bidding system (DMBS). He stated that other factors which made this possible were effective utilisation of manpower and special training for the "Saathis" (drivers).
Easy Cabs has a fleet of 600 to 700 taxis in Mumbai while TabCab and Meru have a fleet size of 2,100 and 2,050 respectively.
Meanwhile, fleetcab operators like Priyadarshini and Viira Cabs, which have women drivers, are demanding at least 100 new permits so that there can be more cabs exclusively for women commuters.
