MUMBAI: A 31-year-old driver was killed when his car turned turtle over a heap of sand at Nare village in Wada taluka of Thane rural on Tuesday evening.
According to the Wada police, the mishap occurred around 5.45pm on a road near Tansa farm. "The deceased, Sazan Phugade (31), accidentally drove his Mahindra Max over a heap of sand on the corner of the road. He then tried to bring the car down, while it was in motion. But the vehicle overturned with him inside. He sustained serious injuries to his head," said a police official.
Cops said Phugade hadn't had much sleep when the mishap occurred. He had not consumed any alcohol. "Phugade used to ferry commuters in the Thane rural area. He is survived by his wife and two young children," the official said.
