Mayor promises maternity home in Kurla

MUMBAI: Mayor Sunil Prabhu along with Shiv Sena leader Manohar Joshi inspected a civic health post in Kasaiwada in Kurla, and have instructed the health staff to open a maternity home in that area.

The demand for a maternity home has been long pending and the residents of Kurla have to travel to the west side or to Sion for delivery.

Joshi also visited the site and told Prabhu that he had given money for the construction of a maternity home in the area from his MP fund, back in 2007, but the work hasn't started yet.

Prabhu told the locals that he will examine whether construction to add some more floors to the existing structure can be done or they will need another plot for the maternity home.

"I will personally look into the matter and will discuss it with the additional municipal commissioner in charge of health to make sure that the locals get a maternity home in Kasaiwada," said Prabhu.
