Local trains in Mumbai running 15 minutes late due to megablocks

MUMBAI: Commuters should plan their travel on Sunday as there are megablocks on Central and Western Railway.

Trains are running at least 15 minutes and some services have been cancelled during the block period.

On CR, there is a megablock on the Up Fast line between Thane and Kalyan stations till 3.30pm.

The Dn fast line services will be diverted on slow tracks between Thane and Kalyan.

There is also a rail block on the Up and Down Harbour lines between Mankhurd and Nerul stations.

This will inconvenience Navi Mumbai passengers, who have either opt for the road route or take a long detour via the Trans-Harbour line.

The rail block is expected to get over by 3 pm.

However special local trains will run on Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus - Mankhurd and Panvel - Thane sections during the block period.

Said CR spokesperson A K Singh, "Due to these blocks, suburban locals will be running about 15 minutes behind schedule. As a result of this, suburban trains are likely to be more crowded than usual. Passengers are requested not to take any risks while travelling. They are also requested to avoid travelling on foot board, roof top of locals and not to board extremely over crowded trains."

On WR, there will be jumbo block between between Marine Lines and Mahim junction stations till 3.35pm on Down local lines (i.e. slow corridor).

During the block, all Down slow trains will run on Down through lines (i.e. fast corridor) between Marine Lines and Mahim Jn. stations.

These diverted trains will not halt at Mahalaxmi, Elphinstone Road and Matunga Road for want of platform. "Due to the block, some Up and Down suburban trains will remain cancelled," said WR spokesperson Nitin David.
