MUMBAI: Wonder filly In The Spotlight, the highest stakes earner in Indian racing history with more than Rs 5 crore in career earnings, will be paraded in the paddock during the Sunday's Races at the Mahalaxmi Racecourse.
In The Spotlight has been invited to Dubai to take part in races during the Dubai Racing Carnival, In January. The champion filly is currently in quarantine at the Mahalaxmi Racecourse and is expected to leave for Dubai on December 21.
In fact, S Padmanabhan, the trainer of In The Spotlight, has decided to giver her a mock race. She is expected to run on grass track on Sunday when the first Classics of the Mumbai Season , the Indian 1000 Guineas will be run. It will be a last chance for race goers to witness In The Spotlight in action on Indian soil.
It is an honour for the Indian horses to get invited to race in Dubai where all the top performing horses from across the world are invited for racing carnival.
It was tough to get invitation for Indian horses to participate in the Dubai carnival as all international horses are quarantined in separate blocks. It was unviable for the Dubai racing authorities to invite one horse from India as one quarantine block had to be used to stable only one horse as horses from other countries could not be put alongside. However, In The Spotlight's wonderful achievement has perhaps impressed the Dubai authorities and they agreed to invite the great filly.
